A great example can be seen in the video above that shows the crowd following along to "Seven Nation Army," which is the song played the most times during a game. When these songs are played throughout the game, everyone begins to pump their fists in unison to the beat. "Lose Yourself," "Seven Nation Army," and "Back in Black" are all songs that should be very familiar to students and season ticket holders.

"The Victors" The University of Michigan Marching Band This fear can be attributed to the immense intensity coming from the crowd of fans. It's one of the most exciting stadiums in all of college football and is also one of the most feared places to play for the opposing team. Nothing beats the feeling of returning to the Big House for another Michigan Wolverine matchup. The student section is beginning to get rowdy and their passing this along to the rest of the fans in the stadium. The fans have made their way into the stadium and are awaiting kickoff. Songs 5, 6, 7, and 8 on the playlist all share the same goal: Pump up the fans. The song is about Monday Night Football in the NFL, but it works for this occasion as well. At this point, the big tailgating parties are coming to a close and most people are starting to make their way towards the stadium. It's getting close to game time and most people are shifting their mindsets to the game. "Are You Ready For Some Football?" Hank Williams Jr. Personally, I don't see the connection, however the majority of Michigan students love their country music and consider it as their audiotopia for gameday saturdays.Ĥ. There's something about country music and tailgating that is a prized possession to many people. This song is perfect because it's about partying across the nation however, for this occasion it would be switched to partying across the campus. I threw in this song because it's almost impossible to be on campus during gameday and not hear at least one country song. If you were able to see the entire street in front of the house, then you would witness the flood of people that crowd the streets of Ann Arbor before the games. As you can see, the house is crawling with students who are taking part in the pre-game festivities.

The playlist starts out with songs that are listened to at tailgate parties, then goes on to the songs that are played in the stadium during the game, and finally to songs that are heard at after parties. I have created a playlist of songs that describe the typical day of a Michigan student on a gameday of last football season. From the early morning tailgates to the final whistle of the game, there is not one dull moment on gamedays.īeing a student at Michigan myself, I have encountered gameday Saturday many times. Saturday gamedays are some of the best times that students will experience over the span of their careers as Michigan Wolverines. The students at the University of Michigan might be some of the best football fans in all of college football, as they contribute each year to the record breaking crowds in The Big House. If one were to ask Michigan students why fall is their favorite time of the year, the unanimous response would be "Michigan Football." Michigan football has been around since 1879, and the Michigan football team has more wins than any other team in the nation at a current total of 903. Fall is without a doubt the best time of the year at the University of Michigan.
